Velvet Revolver Says They Are Weeks Away From Announcing Their New Singer

According to a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Velvet Revolver's bassist Duff McKagan says the band will announce their new singer in a few weeks. The band has been on hiatus since early 2008 when their ex-singer Scott Weiland left the band. Here are some of the things McKagan said.
"It's down to a couple of guys," "That's way down from the 400 original guys we got submissions from." Don't expect it to be another superstar like Scott Weiland. "It's not like Chris Cornell or one of those guys," says the former Guns n' Roses member. "We just want someone that fits. It can't just be good. It has to be amazing or we won't do it."

Aerosmith's Joe Perry Says New Album and U.S. Tour starting June 1!

Direct from Aerosmith's official website, we have an official conformation of a new Aerosmith album. Perry says the band wants to finish the album before June. Then they will start touring the U.S. Additionally Perry says the band wants to take an old school approach to recording the album. They want to record it spontaneously, and live in the studio.

Personally I am pumped for new Aerosmith content as well as a new tour all in the same year. The last Aerosmith album was 2004's Honkin' On Bobo, which received good reviews. You can read more on aeroforceone.com

Axl Rose Speaks! First Interview In A Long Time!

Yes, your reading the title correctly. Axl Rose actually did an interview. Axl is one who dose not generally do many interviews, but recently billboard.com was able to catch up with him and ask a few questions. Personally I thought it was a great interview, and Axl cut down a lot of rumors that people needed to stop spreading, and I am glad he did.

Here is a snippet of the interview. For the rest, check it out on billboard.com

What's your take on the media response to the album?

It's been a mixed bag. Some has been great, others a blood bath. That said, most of the nonsense has been from the same or the latest batch of negative idiots, so it was to be expected and really doesn't mean much. [I] did see some jump ship, and that's always funny. Watching some douche waving a flag and then being the first punk in the water's always great.

Observers are interpreting some of the songs on "Chinese Democracy" as being about the process of making the album. Is this valid?

I'd say there's a lot in the lyrics regarding the journey to make the album, even if not in so many words.

Can you give an example of a song that the band nailed on an early take and didn't change that much?

The basic concept of most songs stayed the same. "Riad [N' the Bedouins]," "Sorry," "Better" and "Prostitute" are probably closer to their original demos in ways than others.

How many other songs were completed and considered for "Chinese Democracy"? There are rumors that there are two full albums done.

We'd like to get another album out at some point, but for now our focus is on "Chinese."
